The Season 2 premiere episode of House of the Dragon, “A Son for a Son,” picks up where Season 1 left on. Everyone’s mourning the loss of Prince Luke, but more tragedy is on the horizon.
A civil war is brewing amongst the Targaryens. After the murder of Prince Luke, Team Black, led by Queen Rhaenyra, seeks revenge against Team Green. Meanwhile, Queen Regent Alicent Hightower worries about the king’s Small Council.
During this episode of the House of the Dragon After Show, Jose Cordova and I break down each beat of the premiere episode while also trying to remember everyone’s names. We discuss how some of the gripes we had about Season 1 carry over into Season 2, how we’re still excited for more dragon lore, and how the Blood and Cheese ending landed for us non book readers. It’s a solid start to the season. Mostly, we’re just glad there’s no more time jumps.
House of the Dragon “A Son for a Son” was written by Ryan J. Condal and Ti Mikkel, and directed by Alan Taylor.
