Louis ArJon
You’re listening to Rookie Pirate Radio, the official anime and manga podcast for InBetweenDrafts.com. I’m Jon Negroni, and today we’re doing a manga recap of One Piece Chapter 1132, titled “Adventure in Elbaf.” Travis, I’m already exhausted from the adventure it took just to get to Elbaf—if you know what I mean.

Stronk World
I’m Travis Hymas.

Stronk World
Yeah, I do. We had a two-week break—and not because of any other distractions, of course.

Louis ArJon
I was actually talking about the decades leading up to Elbaf, but hey, that too. As usual, we’ll be discussing spoilers for the One Piece manga up to this point. So if you haven’t read Chapter 1132 yet, go read it now—it’s free on the Viz website or the Shonen Jump app. Links are in the show notes, as always. Remember, all new One Piece chapters are free to read for three weeks after release. If you’re subscribed to Shonen Jump, though, you can read them anytime. And you can listen to this podcast whenever you want. That’s for danger.

Stronk World
That’s what you meant? It’s fine.

Louis ArJon
You know, Travis, normally this is the part of the show where I hit you with some kind of goofiness, something like, “Haha, let’s have a laugh.” But today, I want to read something sweet to you—a fan letter we got. It’s kind of like mimicking the fan letter episode from the anime.

Stronk World
You said it was going to be sweet. I half-believe you.

Louis ArJon
It is! Here we go. We got this in an email, and Travis, you’ll be hearing this for the first time.

“Dear Rookie Pirate Radio team and fellow Nakama,
I just wanted to take a moment to express how much I love the podcast and to share why I hope everyone listening considers joining the podcast’s Discord server.

As a long-time fan of One Piece, finding a community that shares my love for Oda’s incredible world-building, unforgettable characters, and emotional storytelling has been life-changing. The Discord server is like the Thousand Sunny for all of us—a place to connect, theorize, and share laughs. In the server, you’ll find passionate fans breaking down the latest manga chapters and anime episodes, swapping theories about the mysteries of the Void Century, and lovingly debating who the true MVP of the Straw Hats is.

There’s also something special about sharing fan art, memes, and even the hilariously bad puns only One Piece fans like Louis will appreciate. What I love most is how inclusive and welcoming everyone is. Whether you’re new to One Piece or a veteran who’s sailed all the way to Wano, there’s a place for you here.

So, if you’re listening to the podcast and haven’t joined the Discord yet, please consider it. It’s the perfect way to stay connected between episodes and keep the One Piece spirit alive. Plus, you never know—your next big theory might spark a discussion that becomes part of podcast lore.

Thanks for creating such an amazing space for fans, and I can’t wait to meet more of you in the server.

Yours in adventure and friendship,
Lewis R.

P.S. Let’s face it, every crew member needs their own Nakama. Join us. ☠️”

Stronk World
That is so sweet that I won’t even ask if it’s real.

Louis ArJon
It is real. I read it and thought, “They knew mentioning the Discord would guarantee I’d read this on the show.” But I would have read it anyway.

Stronk World
Honestly, that’s easily the best pitch for the Discord we’ve ever had. I don’t even know how to follow that. Thank you!

Louis ArJon
Yes, thank you so much. And yes, we love the Discord. You can join the Discord—links are in the show notes. If you want to write into the show, Travis, what’s our email again?

Stronk World
It’s rookiepirateradio@gmail.com. I’ll say it one more time: rookiepirateradio@gmail.com.

Louis ArJon
Don’t forget to tell your parents. Alright, Travis, let’s get into Chapter 1132. We’ve been gone for a few weeks with the holidays and all that. There’s even an author note from Oda where he apologized for taking a long break right after saying he’d work harder. Oda, we know you’re listening—you’re always working hard. No apology needed.

Stronk World
I always love when you say, “We go way back,” as if you mean he’s your actual literal father, as we’ve established before.

Louis ArJon
Yeah, but, you know, not everyone listening knows that. They might have missed those episodes where we revealed it.

Stronk World
Of course.

Louis ArJon
Well, Travis, I guess that’s our cue to talk about Chapter 1132. Before I dive into my recap, though, what’s going on in this cover story here? What do you see?

Stronk World
We’re continuing Yamato’s adventure. I never say the full title because, wow, what a mouthful: “Ogre Child Yamato’s Golden Harvest Surrogate Pilgrimage.” But we’re back! Yamato, Speed, and Otama have arrived at the rebuilt Castle of Udon, though it’s still under construction.

Louis ArJon
I love it. I love it so much.

Stronk World
Notably, the smog that used to cover this region due to the factories and pollution has stopped. It’s yet another sign of how much Wano has been healing since Kaido’s defeat.

Louis ArJon
Now, Travis, I almost screamed when I read this part—but I held back because this is a professional podcast and kids are listening. But you didn’t mention Komachiyo! Is it because you hate him?

Stronk World
No, no, it’s not that! It’s… between me and him. He knows what he did.

Louis ArJon
Hmm. Well, I won’t meddle. My meddling days are long gone. Let’s recap this chapter properly.

The chapter begins with a young boy named Colin. We saw him not too long ago at the pub with Shanks when the Giants were leaving, and Kid launched that attack. Colin alerts the villagers that the Great Eirik has returned and eagerly asks if they’re going straight to the pub to celebrate. However, Brogy denies it, explaining that their destination is actually the Sun World.

Nearby, a woman gives Colin a basket to deliver to Ripley and their father. Colin curiously asks if she knows anything about the pirate accompanying Dory and Brogy, recalling how Shanks once told him to remember Luffy’s name. As they talk, a rainbow appears, arching toward the giant tree where the Sun World resides.

The Great Eirik begins its ascent along the rainbow. The Straw Hats are awestruck by its beauty, and Brogy explains that the Giants created it using a tool called a “Painter.” The ship sails up the rainbow, leaving the Straw Hats astonished. It seems impossible to ride something so intangible, but to the Giants, it’s perfectly normal.

Alongside the Great Eirik, Hajrudin and Stansen sail up the rainbow as well. They ask if Luffy is with the crew but are told he’ll be arriving later. Meanwhile, Luffy is climbing back onto a rope bridge leading up the tree. He lands in Gerd’s hands. Gerd apologizes for Rode’s actions and explains the situation while Goldberg questions what Luffy was even doing in the Underworld.

Stronk World
That sounds like classic Luffy.

Louis ArJon
Right? Luffy recalls his secret conversation with Loki but remembers Loki warned him not to reveal their discussion or their promise. Struggling with his poor lying skills, Luffy’s vague response leaves Gerd and Goldberg a bit suspicious but ultimately relieved he made it to Elbaf safely.

Back in the Sun World, Rode tries to grab Nami and Chopper, but Usopp and Sanji fend him off, toppling a tree onto him. Gerd, Goldberg, and Luffy arrive just in time, and the two giants decisively knock Rode out. Afterward, Gerd and Goldberg introduce themselves to the rest of the crew and offer to act as guides.

Luffy and Usopp eagerly dash off to explore the village, leaving the crew to follow Gerd and Goldberg. As they ride the rainbow, Brogy explains that Elbaf is divided into three levels: the Underworld, the Sun World, and the Astral World. Their current destination is the Sun World.

Upon reaching the top, the crew reunites with Luffy and the others. Luffy is floored by the concept of riding a rainbow. Despite his amazement, the Straw Hats are thrilled to be back together. The chapter concludes with a narration from explorer Louis Arnote, recounting his experiences in Elbaf. He leaves a cryptic warning for travelers, cautioning them not to overstay their welcome.

In the final panel, we see a silhouetted figure who has been teased for a while now.

Stronk World
We have to talk about this silhouette. But first, I want to discuss the title—“Adventure in Elbaf.” It’s not the first time an arc has had multiple “Adventure in [place]” titles. Thriller Bark, Dressrosa—they’ve done this. Do you feel like this is Oda doing a soft reset on this arc?

Louis ArJon
It’s possible. When the arc started, we had “Adventure in the Land of Mystery,” which was great to kick things off. But yeah, it feels like this new title signals a shift. Maybe Oda is saying, “Okay, now the real Elbaf story begins.”

Stronk World
Well, so we had “Adventure in the Land of Mystery,” and I liked that title—it fit the vibes we were getting. But it also felt like a fake-out, like we weren’t actually in Elbaf yet. And now we know: nope, we’re in Elbaf. The question is, did the detour feel worth it? I know some people didn’t love it.

Louis ArJon
It’s true the story didn’t progress much in that detour. We didn’t get a ton of intrigue either. It felt more like a way to position Luffy to meet Loki before the real adventure began. But at least it wasn’t a long, drawn-out detour. If we’d stayed there for a bunch of pointless stuff, I’d be more frustrated. But it’s one of those things we probably can’t fully evaluate until this arc is over.

Stronk World
Exactly. We’re still early in the arc, but the detour really only accomplished two things: it put Luffy in Loki’s presence and kept certain Straw Hats from being on the boat when that newspaper arrived. But now that the crew is reunited, I’m curious—how long do you think it’ll last?

Louis ArJon
That’s a good point. I hope the reunion lasts a little while. It was nice seeing everyone back together. It wasn’t dragged out, like some other arcs where they’re split up forever. Also, as soon as I saw Bonnie and Lilith hanging out with the crew, I thought, “This just feels right.”

Stronk World
I agree. And you’re right, it’s been so long since the entire crew had a simultaneous “Wow, look at this place!” moment. I think the last time we really got that was Punk Hazard.

Louis ArJon
Didn’t we get that in Dressrosa, too?

Stronk World
Not quite. They split up as soon as they arrived there. But you’re right—this is special. Seeing everyone react to Elbaf together is such a treat. It feels like a payoff to all the anticipation.

Louis ArJon
Absolutely. And now the theories about this silhouetted figure are flying. Let’s dive into those. Top contenders, Travis?

Stronk World
Okay, first contender: Scopper Gaban. He’s one of Roger’s former crewmates, and people have been waiting for him to show up. A lot of fans think it’s his turn, like how Rayleigh appeared at Sabaody and Crocus at Reverse Mountain.

Louis ArJon
That’s a solid theory. There’s not a ton of evidence beyond process of elimination—he’s unaccounted for. But I’ve also seen people say he’s more likely to be “the man marked by flames.” What do you rate this one?

Stronk World
I’d give it a 2 on the crackpot scale. It makes sense for someone from Roger’s crew to appear here. I’ve always thought Roger’s crew has been operating on a plan this whole time, kind of keeping tabs on things.

Louis ArJon
Alright, how about Shiki the Golden Lion? Some people think it’s him, especially since Elbaf has that mythical vibe and we’ve seen creatures from Strong World here.

Stronk World
This one’s interesting because Shiki is technically a canon character from the Rocks Pirates, but his depiction in Strong World isn’t canon. If Oda brings him back, he’d likely look different. Also, if it were Shiki, wouldn’t we see that steering wheel in his head? I’d give this a 7 on the crackpot scale.

Louis ArJon
Fair enough. Here’s a weirder one: Mad Monk Urouge. The theory is that he’s connected to the Astral World or the Sky Islands, and this arc might tie into space stuff.

Stronk World
I’m giving that a 10 out of 10 on the crackpot scale. Urouge doesn’t fit the silhouette at all, and there’s no real evidence pointing to him.

Louis ArJon
Alright, how about this: a sage or historian from Elbaf, maybe connected to the royal family?

Stronk World
That’s more plausible. It would make sense for Elbaf to have a figure like that who holds knowledge about the Void Century. But I don’t think the silhouette matches a giant. I’ll give it a 7.

Louis ArJon
How about a spy for the Revolutionary Army? Maybe someone gathering intel on Elbaf as a potential refuge for people displaced by the sinking islands?

Stronk World
I like this one. It ties into the bigger world events and could explain why someone human-sized is here. I’ll give it a 3.

Louis ArJon
Last one: someone from Wano. Maybe a Kozuki survivor?

Stronk World
Hmm. The silhouette doesn’t scream Wano to me, but it’s possible. Maybe someone who escaped Kaido’s rule and ended up here. I’d give it a 5.

Louis ArJon
Alright, those are the contenders. Let’s move on to Elbaf itself. What do you think of the Sun World?

Stronk World
It’s gorgeous. The detail is amazing. And the idea of the rainbow bridge—it’s fantastical even for One Piece. It feels like a great payoff to all the buildup since Little Garden.

Louis ArJon
Totally. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to explore every inch of it. Seeing the crew’s awe is such a treat.

Louis ArJon
Totally. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to explore every inch of it. Seeing the crew’s awe is such a treat.

Stronk World
It really is. And it’s been such a long time coming. I mean, Little Garden was 1999. It’s been 25 years of anticipation for this moment.

Louis ArJon
Exactly. And the connections to Little Garden keep coming. Like Louis Arnote and his book, Bragmen. That book has popped up a few times in the series—when Nami referenced it in Little Garden and in Ace’s novel. Even in One Piece Odyssey. Oda’s been planting seeds for decades.

Stronk World
Yeah, and Bragmen was mentioned in an SBS too. Someone spotted the book being saved during the Ohara flashback, and Oda confirmed it was the same book with information about the Island of Giants.

Louis ArJon
Right, and that leads us into the “time distortion” theory. A lot of fans think Louis Arnote’s warning about overstaying your welcome means time works differently here. Like, time in Elbaf could pass more slowly or quickly than in the outside world. What do you think?

Stronk World
I’ve heard that theory, and it’s interesting. If time does move differently, it could explain why the Giants live so long or why events seem a bit out of sync. It would also give the Straw Hats room to have a full adventure here without ruining the momentum of world events. But I think the consequences would need to be clear—like if they lose months or years outside of Elbaf.

Louis ArJon
Exactly. And it could explain things like Loki being imprisoned for six years, yet still being betrothed to Lola. If time flows differently, that timeline makes more sense. It also adds stakes—like Luffy and the crew losing precious time in the race for the One Piece.

Stronk World
I like the idea of stakes, but there’s another theory I’ve seen: that the warning is about the log pose. Maybe the longer you stay in Elbaf, the harder it is to leave because of how the log pose works. The Giants seem to rely on their “painters” for navigation instead of log poses, which is interesting.

Louis ArJon
Hmm, that’s a good one too. And it adds to the mystique of Elbaf as this almost otherworldly place. Do you think this connects to the silhouetted figure?

Stronk World
Possibly. If they’re tied to Elbaf’s mysteries, it could all come together. But it’s hard to say with Oda—he loves a good bait-and-switch.

Louis ArJon
True. And speaking of the silhouetted figure, we got a great comment from a listener: “Will freeing Loki count as overstaying their welcome?” That’s a good point. Could Loki be manipulating Luffy into causing trouble?

Stronk World
I could see that. Luffy’s not great at sniffing out manipulation, but he wouldn’t do something he thinks is outright wrong. Loki might have tricked him into making a promise without knowing the full consequences.

Louis ArJon
Exactly. And then there’s Usopp. This is shaping up to be his arc, and fans are hoping he gets a moment to shine. One comment said, “This is his chance to become the brave warrior of the sea.”

Stronk World
It’s long overdue. But I think Usopp’s growth isn’t about becoming a brawler like Zoro or Sanji. It’s about finding his own strength and bravery, his own way. He’s already shown that, like when he told the Red Scabbards to live instead of sacrificing themselves. He’s not a crybaby—he’s a survivor.

Louis ArJon
Exactly. I don’t want him to get a random power-up. His arc is more meaningful when he does something heroic despite the odds. That’s what makes him Usopp.

Stronk World
Couldn’t agree more. And speaking of meaningful moments, how about Robin and Bonnie bonding in this chapter? One comment said Robin could be like a surrogate mother to Bonnie, given their shared fates.

Louis ArJon
That got me emotional. Seeing Robin finally enjoy an adventure and bond with someone is so rewarding. And Bonnie is finally getting the support she deserves after everything she’s been through.

Stronk World
It’s beautiful. Robin deserves this, and Bonnie feels like such a natural fit with the crew. But we do have to figure out what’s next for her. What role will she play in the larger story?

Louis ArJon
We’ll find out soon enough. For now, I’m just enjoying the journey. Any final thoughts, Travis?

Stronk World
Just one more crackpot theory for the silhouette: What if it’s Louis Arnote himself? Maybe he’s still alive because of the time distortion, and he’s been here all along.

Louis ArJon
That’s wild, but hey, it’s One Piece. Anything’s possible. Alright, that’s it for this week’s episode. We’ll be back next week to discuss Chapter 1133. Don’t forget to join the Discord, send us fan letters, and share your theories. See you then!

Stronk World
See you next time!
