Eli Rallo is a lifestyle expert, creator, and author of the newly released book, Does Anyone Else Feel This Way? This is the type of book that many of us need when approaching or turning 25. It’s highly relatable, funny, and honest. There are essays that cover the vast and intimidating world of adulthood and the looming possibility of a quarter-life crisis. With a background in theatre and a devoted social media following, Rallo is a creative voice whom readers can relate to and get advice from. Her followers will be thrilled with her book recommendations.
So what are Rallo’s three favorite literary fiction novels?
I love literary fiction because it serves me as both reader and writer. I feel that when I dive into a work of literary fiction I’m not only stimulating the part of me that loves to read, but in tandem, the part of me that loves to write as well.
The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison
I think this book might be the greatest book ever written. The prose is sharp yet flowing, impressive yet succinct, and the story is heartbreaking and necessary simultaneously. Toni Morrison was a feat.
They’re Going to Love You by Meg Howry
This book broke me and also reminded me what I love so much about literature. It has the power to move you, heal you, shock you and bring you to tears all within one chapter. Meg Howry is an underrated genius.
City of Girls by Elizabeth Gilbert
The theatre kid in me loves a book about the glitz and glamour of entertainment scenes of the past in cities like New York and LA. I love when Gilbert writes fiction for us, she’s truly a genius and a master of prose and character.
