One Piece 1098 is here, and we’re ready to talk about it on Rookie Pirate Radio, a podcast dedicated to the world of anime and manga. This week, Jon Negroni (me) and Travis Hymas discuss the latest chapter of the One Piece manga, titled “Bonney’s Birth,” and it’s just too bad Oda didn’t release this chapter on Father’s Day…
We chat about One Piece 1098 in our usual overload of detail, speculation, and free-wheeling analysis. This week, Oda is going full grim-dark on us with one of the most harrowing, emotional backstories yet, but with some gems of relief and happiness along the way. Since we have a break next week, we spend some extra time theorizing on what we think might happen next. What cured Bonney’s Sapphire Scales? Why does Kuma become a warlord? And toward the end we have an interesting theory about that pain bubble on Egghead still lingering around presumably.
One Piece 1098 is currently available to read for free on Viz.
